VP Debate, Who Won? Not McCain!
The VP debate proved that Palin could hold her own in a debate format. And Biden was able to handle his side of the contest with a solid performance.
But as far as helping their Presidential running mates (a VP candidate's real job) , you have to say that Obama won handily, and McCain lost another opportunity. Palin did a good job of explaining herself and appealing to voters, but she did little to take Obama down. On the other hand, Biden continually hammered on McCain about his views, his future plans, and most imporant, his claim as a "maverick". Palin looked good, but McCain was not helped given the many attacks from Biden.
The real job was of the VP candidates was to elevate their running mates. On that, Biden did his job well. Palin helped herself in the debate, but did nothing to halt the momentum that has been going Obama's way for the past two weeks.

Sarah Palin - The Circus
If I was Republican, I would be embarrassed at the circus that Sarah Palin has become. They threw Palin into the fray without fully vetting her and now we see the result. The Press is all over her like "white on rice", as they say. And they should be when someone this unqualified is presented as a VP candidate. She is barely qualified to be Governor of Alaska, let alone the Vice President of the US. Is this the best the Republicans can do?
Let's recap:
She knows little about foreign policy, can't name a magazine or newspaper that she regularly reads, pretends to be an expert on Oil issues, can't name a Supreme Court decision, believes in creationism (even though her father is a Science teacher), does not mind forcing someone who is a victim of incest to carry a pregnancy to term, can't hold her own in a simple interview and needs her father (McCain), to accompany her on interviews, and, stretches things wherever and whenever necessary - bridge to nowhere, her own record on earmarks, the vast experience she claims as a mayor of a 7,000 person city, etc.
The Republican Party has produced many intelligent, articulate, well-read leaders in the past....many of them women. Why do they lower themselves to this level to get a few more votes. What does it say about the future of the party when they allow a pick like this? Three words: it's not good.
