Carly Simon has revealed a clue to the identity of the subject of her “You’re So Vain” song from 1972. According to UK paper “The Sun”, the person is David Geffen, music producer to Simon back in the 70’s. Simon left a clue on a song, that if played backwards reveals the name “David”. The Sun reports that Simon was very uncomfortable with Geffen records at the time, which later became part of Elektra/Asylum records.
Simon is no doubt enjoying the attention she is receiving almost 40 years after the original song was recorded.
